Now firmly established as a staple of the Hornsea Carnival calendar, Floral Band Nights have been running successfully since 2024—and are proudly entering their third year. What began as a practical solution to rising costs has grown into one of the most anticipated nights of the entire weekend.

Each year, the event brings together 3–4 live bands for an unforgettable evening of music, atmosphere, and community spirit—all at an accessible price. More than just entertainment, Floral Band Nights play a crucial role in fundraising, helping to secure the future of the carnival year after year.

Hosted in the iconic Hornsea Floral Hall, the move from the traditional band tent has proven to be a turning point. Previously, the cost of staging live music in a marquee—covering everything from hire and staging to equipment, licences, and additional facilities—placed a significant strain on carnival finances. While the tent was always a crowd favourite, the overheads were substantial.

The collaboration with Hornsea Floral Hall has transformed that challenge into an opportunity. By making use of an existing, well-equipped venue, the carnival has been able to reduce costs dramatically while enhancing the experience for attendees. Better acoustics, improved facilities, and a central location have all contributed to the event’s growing popularity.

Iain explains:
“It means Carnival now is not just limited to the park—we are incorporating the whole town, from the parade through to the Floral Hall on Saturday night.”

This shift has helped reshape Carnival Saturday into a full-town celebration, creating a natural flow from the daytime parade into an evening of live music. It also reflects the strength of community collaboration in Hornsea. The Floral Hall’s continued support—donating use of the venue—has been instrumental in the event’s success.

Now in its third year, Floral Band Nights stand as a great example of what can be achieved when local organisations work together. By keeping resources within the town and building on what already exists, the event not only delivers a fantastic night out but also ensures that more funds can be reinvested back into the carnival itself.

As the crowds continue to grow each year, one thing is clear: Floral Band Nights are no longer just an addition to the programme—they’re a highlight in their own right, bringing music, people, and community together under one roof.
