Our Amazing Team

Chairman / Treasurer / Social Media / website - Iain Poole

Hornsea Born and Bred, I have loved watching and taking part in Hornsea Carnival over the years. Having supported carnival in 2018 as a friend of Hornsea Carnival, I then joined the committee in 2019 to aid with the Social media and promotion of Hornsea carnival via digital technologies, having already done this very succesfully with the Hornsea Biker Event, who noticed an increase their Social media reach to well over 30K with each post. I wanted to help Carnival do the same. When the previous committee resigned, I chucked my hat in the ring and stepped up to run the 2022 Carnival as the chair.

Secretary / Entertainment - Zoe May

I’ve lived in Hornsea for 35 years now and have always loved the carnival. My daughter Chloe is already a committee member, and when she told me in 2021 that they were looking for new members, I signed up. Hornsea Carnival has been a staple event in the town for generations, and I’m thrilled to be a part of helping to ensure this wonderful tradition continues for generations to come.
As for me personally, I’m a gamer, a reader and a TV series binge watcher

Vice Chair/ Traders / Entertainment - Michelle Poole

I’ve been a friend of Hornsea carnival for a few years and finally became a member in 2019, I joined this committee as I love what Hornsea carnival is about and what it means to the whole town and wanted to be a part of this. Helping to put on this amazing event and see how happy and alive the town becomes over the weekend is what it is all about for me.

Craft Tent - Paul James

Originally from Nottingham I spent most of my working life in the South East and moved to Hornsea in 2021, experiencing my first carnival as a spectator the following year. I’ve been impressed by a lot of things about Hornsea – the friendliness of the people, the feeling of community, and the fact that a small town can lay on such a large event, so when I heard they were looking for new members to help organise the carnival it seemed the perfect opportunity to give something back to the town that has given me so much joy in the time I’ve been here.

H&S - Dennis MappleBeck

I am a retired Construction Manager, a role in which I regularly dealt with the public and local authorities / highway authorities, etc.  I have been a member of the Carnival Committee since 2013, when I retired.  I have responsibility for arranging road closures for the Carnival Parade, together with all the accompanying paperwork and administration, and liaising with the local highway authority, ambulance service and other public organisations in the context of running the Parade safely.  I also have responsibility for Health and Safety of the Carnival events.

Sponsorship - Stephen Prescott

We moved from Hull 12 years ago and have been involved in several local organisations such as Hornsea Rescue and Hornsea Civic Society. Joining the Carnival Committee seemed a good way of helping our community and bringing people together as well as being a fun thing to do.

Mike Hill

I have lived in Hornsea for 40 years and have fond memories of carnival, particularly when my children were young. I first became involved with the carnival committee in 2014, when I had some input into the production of the carnival programme’s front cover. I then designed and produced the next 5 carnival programmes. I became Vice Chairman in 2017 and then became the Carnival Secretary in 2019.

Anton

I was born and raised in Denmark, lived in Canada for a number of years and settled in Hornsea 5 years ago. Loving it here, i felt i wanted to be more of a part of the community and after having experienced a couple of carnivals and hearing they were looking for new members I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give back in any way that I can and hopefully for many years to come.
